In practically all regions there are events organized for farmers. It shows farmers' willingness to gain knowledge before spring, but most importantly, farmers get the right information.


Classical farming technologies are based on the use of organic fertilizers as the main fertilizers, and the weeds are destroyed by mechanical means. However, using such technologies to obtain fertility consistent with modern conditions is unrealistic. Today's race continues to get higher yields. Corporations are investing millions of euros in new pesticide-making and testing to make field planting easier and less crop loss. Fertilizers and plant protection products dominated crop production for a long time.


The most common nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. However, everyone knows that the list of minerals added to the soil is limited to these three elements. The composition of fertilizers may include a number of elements of the Mendeleev table. Plants quickly and effectively absorb these elements and grow faster than untreated. Yes, but there is another side of the "medal" - the fertilization of the soil is persistent, soil degradation begins; more simply, the soil's humus is decreasing. Humus is a universal and most effective natural fertilizer. It can not be replaced by any mineral fertilizers. Using fertilizers mineralizes humus, relaxes nutrients, and when plants do not use them - it is washed out, soil fertility decreases and erosion begins. Maybe somebody does not want to notice this process, but it's happening, whatever we want to see it or not.


Another problem related to the use of mineral fertilizers is ecological, i.e. pollution of groundwater. Pollution is related to the inefficient deposition of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers. Only about 40 percent nitrogen is primed by plants and 60% by nitrogen from the soil gets into the water or evaporates into the atmosphere. Phosphorus is better, but also incomplete. Plants that have completed the life cycle are starting to blow, with methane being released, the amount of oxygen in the water decreases and chain reactions begin. The fish population is decreasing, nitrates accumulate in fish, etc.


In fertilizers, other essential and unnecessary materials for plants are also present without essential elements. Some fertilizers may contain strontium, uranium, zinc, lead, mercury, cadmium, and the like. It is difficult to predict the effects of these substances on humans or animals when they enter the soil through the soil and continue to feed on foodstuffs. Studies have shown that small amounts of different chemical elements do not cause significant harm to the body, but it is better not to get them completely into the body. But the ideal conditions are different. Experts say that if cows feed on abundant pastureland, the concentration of cadmium in a liter of milk can reach 15-30 mg, while doctors say that a person weighing at 70 kg does not have a cadmium content of 0.6 mg per week.


The unpredictable, unpredictable use of fertilizers by scientists is not limited to soil erosion and water pollution. Soil is rich in micro-organisms, and over the millions of years nature has created the necessary balance among species. In addition to microorganisms, there are many different types of animals in the soil. Even the activity of plant photosynthesis depends directly on the processes in the soil. Using a lot of mineral fertilizers, some types of microorganisms disappear, but begin to reproduce others adapted to feed on nitrogen. The resulting imbalance disrupts a number of biological processes, degrades the roots of the plant and all the living world of the soil. Then there are places for many diseases and pests for which mineral fertilizers are food, and most importantly they do not have natural enemies in the soil.


Our goal is to explain to farmers that the time has come to stop the processes of soil degradation. After restoring soil microbiological activity, farmers noticed that mineral fertilizers are much more effective, the same effect can be obtained with lower fertilizer content, less fungicides and other plant protection products.


In the past, many organic fertilizers have been used to maintain soil vitality and strictly adhere to crop rotation, currently there is no organic fertilizer, and crop rotation is forgotten. We need to look for new ways that are widespread in Europe, and most importantly, that measures here in Lithuania, need to update knowledge and replace old theories with new innovative solutions.
